In the past we have endorsed many things; in the future we shall support many others.

used bookstores are a vital part of the ecosystem.

I haven't mentioned BOOKOFF around here yet. This is something of an oversight.

The thing about BOOKOFF, as they proudly announce on their website, is that they are a leader in the field of the reuse of books. This is not an exaggeration. If you read Japanese, (or even pretend to read Japanese, as I do,) BOOKOFF is the place to shop. Their dollar manga are the best deal I've found yet, and they've got a decent selection of used DVDs, CDs, artbooks, and Japanese novels.

I actually have no idea where they get the stuff. It seems kind of unlikely that there are enough Japanese here selling back their books to support this kind of thing -- the only explanation I have is that they're shipping used books over by the container for my own especial benefit.

Thanks!

(I was inspired to write this because there was a sale today, and I think I may have overindulged, as you can see from the state of my bag. Especially since I still had to bike home. But that's over with now, and I have a bunch of great stuff to read.)
