geek pastime.

I don't know if you follow the LiveJournal of estimable author George R. R. Martin -- you could be excused for not doing so, and indeed flying into a terrible rage whenever he talks about something other than progress on his long-running and critically-acclaimed epic fantasy series.

Phew. That was a very long sentence. I should stop doing that. Anyway, one of the characters from the aforementioned series has become the subject of that perennial geek hobby, figuring out which fictional character would win in a fight. You know. Batman or Superman. Dr. Doom or Dr. Wily. Sailor Moon or Creamy Mami. That kind of thing. Suvudu.com is doing an entire tournament, and Jaime Lannister's won all his matches.

. . .With a little help from his creator. See, George R. R. Martin decided to do fanfiction. Literal fanfiction about his own character, and it is hilarious. His account of how Jaime beat Cthulhu (!) is my favorite, but they're all great fun. If you've read Martin's fantasy series, you'll probably enjoy them quite a bit.
