The Evangelion 2.0 trailer came out a few days ago, and promptly got posted on the various video-sharing sites. As you might expect, I've been poring over it to find out what's going to be in the movie.

Frankly, I think it looks amazing, and you would not believe the degree to which I'm looking forward to it. The things that intrigue me most are: But I think that this process of looking for hints is possibly even more fun. I mean, that's what attracted me to Evangelion in the first place: the attraction of digging through this immense architecture of symbols, assigning my own meanings as I went along. People have argued that Eva's symbolism is incoherent -- but to me that's always been the pleasure of it; the fact that it requires so many mental gymnastics to imbue with a unified and consistent meaning -- a meaning which it may not, in fact, contain.
